Vouvray describes Chenin Blanc made in the Vouvray subzone of France's Loire Valley, and it can be anything from a bone-dry table wine to a rich, sweet dessert wine. This Vouvray is a demi-sec­, a semi-sweet style that is right in the middle between dry and sweet. With its ripe pear, green apple, and honey notes, along with brightening citrusy acidity and limestone minerality, this is an excellent alternative to German Riesling.
